Tehran-Moscow Coop. Can Calm Region

Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia-Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour underlined the need for increasing cooperation between Tehran and Moscow as well as other regional countries to deal with destabilizing factors in the region. According to Fars News Agency, Rahimpour made the statement in a meeting with his Russian counterpart Grigory Karasin in Tehran on Wednesday. The Russian diplomat highlighted the importance of Russia-Iran cooperation in regional developments. “Iran and Russia should cooperate to help calm the situation in the region,” he added. Karasin was in Tehran for diplomatic talks revolving around the Caspian Sea, Central Asia and the Caucasus. In relevant remarks, Iran’s Ambassador in Moscow Mehdi Sanaei recently voiced Tehran’s readiness to share its experience with member states of Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the counter-terrorism field.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to share its experience with SCO countries and cooperate with them more actively in forging security and stability in the region,” he said.
