A senior official said to prevent malicious elements from infecting the world with the scourge of terrorism and harm global trade, devising a comprehensive plan is of top importance.

Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani made the statement in a meeting with Romanian Foreign Minister Lazar Comanescu in Tehran on Wednesday, IRNA reported.

“Elements destroying the region and committing crimes against humanity can infect the whole world,” he said.

Rafsanjani said to battle terrorism, members of the global community should consider the interest of others in their decisions, because the flames of terrorism threaten the globe not some countries.

On bilateral ties, Rafsanjani said high capacities of the two countries have prepared the ground for improvement of ties and hoped there will be a strong desire in the two countries to do so.

Comanescu said Romania has always been a supporter of Iran-EU cooperation.

The minister said Romania is willing to take ties with Iran to the highest levels, especially in the economic field. Heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, Comanescu arrived in Tehran on Monday.

During his three-day stay in Tehran, the Romanian minister met President Hassan Rouhani, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, among other high-ranking officials.
