Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani expressed confidence that the people would thwart a plot hatched by the US and Britain to undermine the upcoming polls scheduled for Friday.
Addressing a gathering of Iranian clerics in the northern province of Mazandaran on Monday, Ayatollah Amoli Larijani cautioned against the recent attempts of the US and Britain to influence the outcome of the upcoming elections in Iran and said the enemies of the Islamic establishment have always tried to harm the Islamic Revolution over the past 37 years since its victory in February 1979. However, he added, “Our people are vigilant, alive and wise, and are able to recognize foreigners’ attempts to skew [the polls],” Tasnim News Agency reported.
The judiciary chief said the Iranian people will never allow the US and Britain to decide for them in the elections. British Broadcasting Corporation is said to be encouraging the Iranian people not to vote for certain candidates in the Assembly of Experts election, which will run concurrently with the parliamentary vote.
