A senior lawmaker said principlist parliamentarians in the next Majlis will be willing to help the government promote economic self-reliance.

Spokesman for the Principlist Coalition Gholamali Haddad-Adel said principlists believe that promoting Resistance Economy, a set of policies aimed at promoting self-sufficiency, should be the guiding light for the government in the next years, Tasnim News Agency reported.

Haddad-Adel added that principlists are concerned that new economic contracts with western companies in the post-JCPOA era may lead to increased reliance on foreign countries.

Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action is the formal name of the nuclear deal between Iran and world powers last July, which led to the removal of international sanctions on Iran and a rapid improvement in its economic relations with other states.

The principlist campaign for the parliamentary elections revolves around Resistance Economy, which they describe as the only means of addressing economic problems.

Their list of candidates for the February 26 Majlis elections was released on February 7, which includes 10 economists.
