Iran and Belarus on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding for a three-year cooperation between the two countries’ foreign ministries. Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Valentin Rybakov, who was on a two-day trip to Tehran, held a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour, Tasnim News Agency reported. The two sides explored avenues for expansion of Tehran-Minsk cooperation in different fields and signed the MoU on cooperation between the two foreign ministries. They also discussed bilateral political and economic ties as well as ways of reinforcing and developing mutual cooperation in different fields in the post-sanctions era. The meeting came one year after Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif made an official visit to Belarus and held separate meetings with the country’s prime minister and speaker of the upper house of parliament for promoting bilateral ties. The two countries have recently signed agreements in several judicial, legal and defense fields as well as in the fight against terrorism.
