The government spokesman voiced Tehran’s preparedness to promote ties with neighboring countries, expressing hope that certain “unjustified” concerns about Iran would be relieved. “We wish to develop and expand relations with the neighboring and Arab countries,” Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said in an interview with Al-Alam News Network on Sunday. Nobakht stressed that after the recent implementation of the nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers, and Iran’s efforts to promote its ties with the entire world, regional states are expected to realize that Tehran would definitely prefer to have better ties with its Muslim brothers in Arab countries. “We hope that the current, unjustified concerns are allayed,” he added. Nobakht touched on the recent tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia, saying that Riyadh was the one that started the row and Iran did not have any role in this “strategic mistake”.
