Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei issued a message on Sunday extending condolences on the demise of Major General Mohammad Salimi. Salimi, a former Armed Forces commander, died at the age of 78 on Saturday after a long period of ill health, IRNA reported. "This religious and devoted serviceman was among a handful of military companions who established a connection between the rank and file of the Armed Forces and … the Islamic Republic system since the early weeks of the victory of the [1979 Islamic] Revolution," the message said.
