During a tour of Fordo and Natanz uranium enrichment facilities on Monday, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Tehran will continue using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
Zarif, head of the negotiating team in talks with the P5+1 (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) on Tehran's nuclear program, praised the efforts of nuclear scientists and all those who are active in the field.
Other members of the negotiating team were also accompanying Zarif, IRNA reported.
Iran and the major powers are trying to build on an interim nuclear accord they reached in Geneva last November to hammer out a long-term settlement to the nuclear dispute by a late November target date.
The two sides said the most recent round of high-level nuclear talks in Vienna made “some progress”, but major differences on various issues remain to be resolved.
Zarif is expected to hold a trilateral meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry and European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, who coordinates the talks on behalf of the P5+1, in the near future.
