Defense Minister Lieutenant General Hossein Dehqan voiced Tehran’s readiness to continue its full support for Iraq to ensure that the neighboring country will achieve final victory against terrorism.

In a Sunday meeting with visiting Iraqi National Security Advisor Faleh al-Fayad, Dehqan said the Islamic Republic is ready to continue its all-out support for the Iraqi military and nation until Baghdad’s final victory against terrorists and their backers, Tasnim News Agency reported.

Hailing the recent accomplishments of the Iraqi Army in the battle against the self-styled Islamic State militant group as well as the recapture of the strategic northern city of Ramadi from the grip of terrorists, Dehqan stressed that enhanced unity among Shias and Sunnis in the country will further contribute to the success of the anti-terror campaign.

Faleh al-Fayad welcomed the implementation of the nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, and said a new chapter of relations between Iran and the world has been opened.

Fayad described Iran’s role in fighting terrorism in the region as “key”, adding that Tehran’s support contributed to the recent great victories of the Iraqi Army.
