UN Envoy: Iran's Role in Syria Positive

UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura and Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian discussed latest developments regarding international efforts to find a political solution to the Syria crisis. In a phone conversation on Sunday, the UN envoy thanked Iran for playing a "positive role" in the Syria peace process and underlined the need for sending humanitarian aid to the war-affected Syrian people, ISNA reported. De Mistura explained his "intensive efforts" to convene a meeting between representatives of the Syrian government and opposition.
