Tehran on Saturday released four prisoners with dual Iranian-US nationality under a swap agreement with the US government.

“On the orders of the Supreme National Security Council and in line with interests of the establishment, the four prisoners with dual nationality were released under a prisoner exchange deal,” Fars News Agency quoted Tehran’s general prosecutor, Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi, as saying.

An informed source told IRNA that Washington has also freed seven Iranian nationals imprisoned in the US.

IRNA reported that the four Iranian-American citizens are

Jason Rezaian, Nosratollah Khosravi, Amir Hekmati and Saeed Abedini.  Rezaian, 39, a Washington Post reporter, was arrested in July 2014 and was convicted of acting against national security and collecting confidential information and giving it to hostile governments.
