Chinese President Xi Jinping will arrive in Tehran on Jan. 22 for a two-day visit at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani, leading a high-level political and economic delegation.

The delegation will include Jinping's three deputies and nine ministers as well as a large group of businessman and media people, Fars News Agency reported on Friday.

The trip is expected to see many agreements and documents of cooperation signed between the two sides in economic, political and cultural domains.

Jinping's trip to Iran will be the first by a Chinese president in 14 years.

Beijing's Foreign Minister Wang Yi flew to Iran and Saudi Arabia last week to mediate in a dispute between the two countries over the recent incidents leading to a break in Tehran-Riyadh relations.

China's Foreign Ministry released a statement to announce the news of Jinping's trip to Iran, saying it would be preceded by his visits to Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
