Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi on Friday met with Oman’s Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi in the Omani city of Salalah and discussed ways of boosting stability in the region. At the meeting, Sarmadi called the hostile moves that endanger regional stability and security as “unacceptable”, Tasnim News Agency reported. Praising the “excellent relations” between Iran and Oman, Sarmadi said, “Given the effects of friendly relations among countries on regional peace and security, expansion of bonds with neighboring countries, particularly with Persian Gulf littoral states that advocate such a policy, tops the agenda of the Islamic Republic of Iran.” The Omani foreign minister lauded close ties between the two countries and said continued consultations between the two sides are very important. Alawi also said reducing tension and boosting security and economic prosperity would be in the interest of nations in the region. The two sides also discussed latest developments in Syria and Yemen, and underlined the necessity of curbing violence and finding political solution to the regional crises.
