The United Nations envoy on Syria, Staffan de Mistura, is to visit Tehran on Saturday for consultations on the lingering Syria crisis. However, the informed source at the Foreign Ministry also denied reports that the UN official's trip is aimed at mediating between Iran and Saudi Arabia following the escalation of tension between the two regional powers, ISNA reported on Tuesday. The source also said de Mistura will visit Iran to discuss international peace efforts concerning Syria as part of a preplanned regional tour.
