Members of the Principlist Coalition gathered under the same roof on Thursday to hold a congress, in preparation for the February elections.
Principlist Coalition is a body formed to organize the electoral efforts of principlist parties and help them preserve their majority in parliament.
The election for the tenth Majlis with 290 seats will be held on February 26, at the same time as the election for the fifth Assembly of Experts with 88 seats.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Chairman of Principlist Coalition Council Ayatollah Ali Movahedi Kermani, who is the secretary-general of the Combatant Clergy Association, a major principlist group, said attendance of many principlist parties with different political preferences is a good sign and expressed hope that the solidarity would last until elections, IRNA reported.
The chairman of Tehran's City Council and a prominent principlist figure, Mehdi Chamran, said Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has named his representative to the coalition.
Larijani, widely known to be a principlist, had first refused to join the coalition of principlists.
The top lawmaker announced after registering for the Majlis election on December 24 that he will run as an "independent" candidate.
