Bahonar Denies Presidential Ambitions

Deputy Parliament Speaker Mohammad Reza Bahonar has denied reports that he intends to run in the 2017 presidential election. In an interview with ICANA on Monday, Bahonar explained his surprise decision not to register for the Feb. 26 parliamentary elections. Bahonar said he was assured that his fellow principlists would win a majority in the next Majlis, so there was no need for his participation.
