Iran and Oman reviewed the latest status of bilateral ties and their wide-ranging consultations.

At the meeting with the visiting Omani deputy foreign minister in Tehran on Monday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Iran and Oman enjoy great potentials to promote cooperation in various fields, including economy and trade, Tasnim News Agency reported.

Zarif also hailed Oman’s positive role in regional developments and stressed that Muscat’s wise policies have contributed to the Persian Gulf country’s constructive role in the region.

Ali bin Ahmed al-Isaee underscored the need for continuing consultations between the two countries on promotion of ties in diverse areas.

Tehran and Muscat share long-lasting and close diplomatic, economic and military ties.

Sultan Qaboos played an important role in facilitating the early stages of nuclear talks between Iran and the world powers, which led to a comprehensive nuclear deal on July 14.
