Amano, Salehi Talk on Phone

International Atomic Energy Agency’s Director General Yukiya Amano and the head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi, held talks on how to implement the July nuclear deal between Tehran and major powers. In a phone conversation on Thursday, Amano extended congratulations to Salehi on the recent approval of a resolution by the IAEA’s board of governors to close the case of the so-called possible military dimensions to Tehran’s nuclear program, Tasnim News Agency reported. Amano explained his views about ways of implementing the nuclear deal and stated that the resolution has created a new atmosphere. Salehi said Iran is trying to move in a way that the implementation day of the accord occurs within the next two weeks. The board of governor on December 15 unanimously approved the resolution, which had been proposed by P5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) to close the PMD case. The IAEA has been given the task of verifying Iran’s compliance with the terms of the nuclear pact.
