Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said the new letter written by the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to the western youths has laid a new foundation for interactions between Islam and the West, which is based on rationality, truth and respect for different cultures.

Larijani made the statement in an open season of Majlis on Sunday, IRNA reported.

"This letter drew the curtain aside to show the modern hypocrisy hidden behind the arrogant spirit of major [western] powers and revealed important truths," he said.

"The Islamic world has always fought ignorant violence and blind prejudice. The problem of terrorism in the region has been caused by the behind-the-scene plots of the region's deceitful dictators and [intelligence] services of big powers, not pure Islam."

In a letter addressed to the youth in western countries on November 29, Ayatollah Khamenei described the bitter terrorist events in France as a ground for deliberation.

Referring to painful examples of the “effects of terrorism, which is backed by certain big powers, on the Muslim world, [powerful countries’] support for Israel’s state terrorism and harmful military campaigns [launched] against the Muslim world in recent years,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, “I ask you, young people, to lay the foundation for an appropriate and honorable interaction with the Muslim world based on correct knowledge and with deep insight and by taking advantage of tragic experiences [of the past].”
