Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said the Majlis has played its role in facilitating investment in Iran and clear the path for foreigners to enter Iranian markets.

Larijani made the statement in a meeting with visiting Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias on Monday, ICANA reported.

The Iranian speaker said Iran and Greece enjoy "close links" and there are strong potentials for the development of economic cooperation.

"Chambers of Commerce of the two countries have an important role for boosting cooperation, because Iranian and Greek businessmen should identify investment opportunities to benefit from trading with each other," he said.

The Iranian speaker said every year millions of Iranian tourists travel to foreign countries and Greece can be a good destination for them, so the two countries can engage in tourism cooperation.

Larijani expressed concern over lack of seriousness in fighting terrorism, which has led to the growth of the scourge in the region, adding that some countries are looking to control terrorists and not eliminate them.

"Everyone should realize [the threat posed by terrorism against the world] and do not add to problems of the region by providing financial and arms support for terrorists," he said.

The Greek minister said Greece wants to have close political and commercial relations with major countries in the Middle East like Iran.

Pointing to cultural commonalities between the two countries, Kotzias said during the upcoming trip of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to Iran, improvement of cultural ties will be on the agenda.

Kotzias also touched upon the rise of terrorism in the region, saying that the West and European Union should not let some countries to help terrorists to promote their interests.
