Secretary of State at the Swiss Foreign Ministry Yves Rossier met two ranking Iranian diplomats in Tehran and discussed a range of issues, including regional developments. In one of the meetings, Rossier and Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi discussed Tehran-Bern relations, Tasnim News Agency reported. The Swiss diplomat voiced his country’s readiness to expand economic ties with Iran following the implementation of the July 14 nuclear deal between Tehran and P5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany). Takht-Ravanchi said it is an appropriate time to come up with “plans for broad economic activities” between Iran and Europe. In a separate meeting, Rossier and Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian discussed latest developments in the Middle East. The Swiss official urged political ways and dialogue to help settle regional conflicts. The Iranian deputy minister stressed the need for “responsible behavior” by regional countries to that end. Amir-Abdollahian called for collective efforts for combating terrorism and extremism.
