A senior official said Iran will continue to support the Syrian government and nation until their final victory over an unprecedented plot hatched by some regional and trans-regional states.
Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to the Leader of Islamic Revolution, said that for almost five years, Syrians have been confronting conspiracies and in recent months, signs of their success in eliminating threats have become apparent more than ever, IRNA reported on Thursday.
Pointing to regional unity among Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and Russia to support Syria, Velayati said the "unique" consensus in contemporary history has assured Iran of victory against terrorists.
He said although some countries are against the support provided by Iran and "Russia to Syria, the two countries will continue to help, while the US and those who seek to illegally decide on behalf of the Syrian people will definitely be disappointed," he said.
Velayati, who is also the director of the Center for Strategic Research of the Expediency Council, added that Iran is totally opposed to disintegration of Syria and this issue should be regarded as a principle in any negotiations to solve the conflict.
"We will not agree with any solution opposed by the government and people of Syria," he said.
