The best avenue to “neutralize the influence of radical and terrorist groups is to strengthen logical, stable balanced and Islamic thought and movements,” the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Sunday.
He was speaking in a meeting with the visiting Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in Tehran during which he condemned the “brutality and terroristic violence of the Daesh and other similar Takfiri groups that commit crimes in the name of Islam.”
The Leader called for concerted efforts to pave the way for “allowing the people to participate in proper and correct Islamic activities,” and reiterated that “Islam is a religion of brotherhood, fraternity, kindness and wanting good for others.” The Leader stressed that the “criminality and shocking brutality” of the so-called Daesh (IS/ISIS/ISIL) has absolutely “nothing to do with Islam.” Announcing his support for cordial ties with Turkmenistan, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized the need for “effective and practical measures to be taken to implement bilateral agreements.”
The Turkmen president expressed his satisfaction over the “historic, cordial and fraternal relations” between the two neighbors and noted that “the joint development and economic projects undertaken by the two nations is in the interest of the entire region.”
