Iran plans to expand the use of civilian nuclear technology for agricultural and medical purposes.

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi made the announcement while addressing analysts and researchers of Japan Institute of International Affairs in Tokyo on Saturday, Fars News Agency reported.

Salehi noted that after the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (the official name of the July nuclear deal with major powers), Iran will enter a new era of nuclear activities with a bright outlook.

“Based on the JCPOA, not only will Iran enjoy its inalienable right to enrich uranium, as stated in the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, but it will also facilitate extraction of uranium, production of fuel and management of spent fuel,” he said.

“Iran also seeks to develop its peaceful nuclear activities in agricultural and medical fields similar to the industrial sector.”
