Iran believes the United States is supporting terrorism and promoting drug trafficking, the justice minister said on Thursday.
“I want to say that we perceive the United States as a country that supports terrorism and spreads narcotics,” Mostafa Pourmohammadi added in a meeting with the deputy speaker of the Russian Parliament’s upper chamber, Ilyas Umakhanov, Sputnik reported. According to the Iranian minister, since US forces were deployed in Afghanistan in 2001, the volume of drug production has registered a tenfold increase. “Today, financial support and supply of weapons [to terror groups] are carried out either by the United States or by its allies,” he added. In late October, Iran’s Deputy Defense Minister Nasrollah Kalantari said the United States and its allies have prepared the ground for breeding terrorism in the Middle East.
