A colonel of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps was killed in Aleppo in northern Syria.

Mostafa Ezzatollah Soleimani was killed in the northern province of Aleppo while serving as military adviser to the Syrian Army in the battle against militants fighting to topple the government of President Bashar al-Assad, Fars News Agency reported.

Before his mission in Syria, Colonel Soleimani was commander of the Elite Battalion of Hazrat Bani Hashem Brigade 44 in the city of Shahr-e Kord in western Iran.

Two other IRGC members were martyred in Aleppo last month.
