Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi set off for Japan on Sunday to hold talks with Japanese officials on expansion of nuclear cooperation.
AEOI spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi said Iran and Japan have exchanged delegations in recent months and discussed ways of boosting nuclear safety cooperation, Press TV reported.
Kamalvandi added that Salehi’s visit to Tokyo is aimed at following up on negotiations about cooperation in nuclear safety.
During his four-day stay, the AEOI head is scheduled to hold talks with Japanese nuclear scientists and officials from Japan’s Nuclear Energy Safety Organization and Nuclear Regulations Authority.
Salehi will also deliver lectures at the University of Tokyo and the Japan Institute of International Affairs.
