A lawmaker dismissed as unfounded the allegation by Bahrain’s foreign minister that Iran backs efforts to topple Arab governments, stressing that some trans-regional countries spur officials of regional states to make such allegations against the Islamic Republic.
“The spate of anti-Iran remarks is orchestrated by some countries from out of the region, which sometimes use the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to promote Iranophobia,” Deputy Chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hossein Sobhaninia told ICANA on Saturday.
Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmed Al Khalifa claimed on Saturday at a security conference in Manama that Iran’s alleged support for subversion in Arab states is as big a threat to the region as the so-called Islamic State militant group, Reuters reported.
