Afkham 1st Woman Ambassador Since 1979

Marzieh Afkham, the current spokesperson of Foreign Ministry, has been appointed ambassador to Malaysia. Afkham will be the first woman to take the office of ambassador after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Hossein Jaber Ansari, director general of the Foreign Ministry's Department for Middle East and North Africa, has been appointed her successor and will start work in the near future, ISNA reported.
