A lawmaker says the Leader’s recent letter on the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Tehran’s nuclear program indicates that the responsibility for the oversight of the agreement’s enforcement has been devolved to the Supreme National Security Council. Member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Avaz Heydarpour told ICANA on Sunday, “In view of the Leader’s instructions to the president and his order for the establishment of the [oversight] committee, the Majlis responsibility for overseeing [the deal] has come to an end.”
In his Oct. 21 letter to President Hassan Rouhani, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called for setting up a committee under the authority of the SNSC tasked with monitoring the progress of the action plan and the other side’s compliance with its undertakings.
