Phone Call on Region

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov held a phone conversation on Saturday to discuss the situation in the Middle East, according to a Foreign Ministry press release. The two sides underlined the need for “increased contacts” with the aim of helping resolve regional crises and restoring stability and security to the Middle East. Pointing to the Friday meeting between Russia, the US, Turkey and Saudi Arabia on the Syria crisis in Vienna, Zarif highlighted the “pivotal” role of the Syrian people in putting an end to the four-year conflict gripping the Arab country.
