GC Approves JCPOAGC Approves JCPOA

The Guardian Council has approved a bill that allows implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action the Parliament signed into law a day earlier.

In its Wednesday’s session the oversight body endorsed the bill that calls on the Islamic Republic of Iran government to take reciprocal and proportional measures with the other parties to the deal in the process of implementing the nuclear deal, IRNA reported.

Iran’s Majlis (Parliament) approved the JCPOA in a session on Tuesday with 161-59 votes. The legislation requires the government to implement it voluntarily under supervision of the Supreme National Security Council. Iran and the six world powers reached an agreement in July (known as the JCPOA) to ease the international sanctions in return for time-limited curbs on Tehran’s nuclear energy program.
