Amir-Abdollahian Meets Mogherini

Iran-EU officials held consultations on Tuesday on the situation in the region, especially the crises in Syria and Iraq.
Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a meeting with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini  in Brussels,  reviewed the latest developments in Syria and said a consensus should be reached and a political solution found to the  four-year-old Syrian conflict which has claimed thousands of lives.
Iran has recently proposed a new plan for settling the Syrian conflict peacefully.
As Russian airstrikes against terrorist positions in Syria started on Sept. 30 following the official request by Syria, a new chapter has been opened in the crisis, while diplomatic efforts to overcome the differences continue.
Moghrini’s deputy, Helga Schmidt was present at the meeting.
