The Leader of the Islamic Revolution warned of the “soft war” hostile powers are waging against Iran, stressing the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting in protecting national values in this “complex battlefield.”
IRIB is “at the forefront against this soft war, with its managers and staff serving as commanders and soldiers,” Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said in a meeting with the directors and personnel of the state broadcasting organization on Monday.
He said “the widespread, pre-planned and all-out” soft war has primarily targeted the belief and attitude of our people, particularly the youth, underlining the need for “meticulous planning” by officials to help resist the foreign offensives. Highlighting the differences between soft and hard wars, the Leader said, “The soft war pursues the same objectives as the hard war, but in a more comprehensive and profound manner.”
He said academia, the elite and students are the principal targets of the soft war agenda. “[The enemies] are seeking to change the thinking of the people and influence their religious, political and cultural beliefs.”
Hostile powers are “trying to promote among the young people the idea that they should feel stigmatized because of the conditions of their society and that there is no prospect for progress,” Ayatollah Khamenei was quoted by IRNA as saying. He warned against attempts by foes to present a tarnished image of Iran to both the comity of nations and Iranians themselves and thereby achieve their nefarious goals. “Their (hostile powers’) media present a distorted image about Iran.”
