A senior diplomat called on the international community to support Iraq in the fight against terrorist groups wreaking havoc on the Arab country. Hossein Amir Abdollahian, deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, made the remark in a meeting with UN special envoy for Iraq Yan Kubish in Tehran on Saturday, Press TV reported. He underlined the need for global support for Iraq’s national unity and territorial integrity, expressing Tehran’s opposition to the partition of the Arab country. “We are opposed to the idea which views Iraq’s fragmentation as a political solution, and we consider this approach as a violation of Iraq’s security and stability.” The UN envoy explained the current situation in Iraq and said Iraq needs national unity as well as the constructive contribution of all regional and international players to overcome the current crisis.
