A senior lawmaker says “wrong actions and mistakes” by the United States and its allies in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya and Yemen have increased insecurity in the region. Chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi made the remark in a meeting with a Tunisian delegation in Tehran on Tuesday, ICANA reported. On Tehran-Tunis relations, Boroujerdi said there is good potential for expansion of “friendly” ties between the two countries, stressing that the Majlis backs every effort to boost bilateral cooperation in political, economic and cultural domains.
Pointing to the July 14 nuclear deal between Iran and major powers, the legislator said, “The resistance put up by the Iranian people and government to defend their nuclear rights helped defeat the policy of imposing economic sanctions to isolate Iran, and Iran’s right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes was recognized.”
