German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier says the breakthrough nuclear deal between Iran and major powers is a stepping stone toward the settlement of the deadly conflict gripping Syria. "Several years of nuclear talks have helped build some trust, which can serve as a good basis for [a collective effort] to resolve the Syrian civil war," the top German diplomat told ARD, IRNA reported. He said it is necessary that the US, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey and Europe engage in a joint political effort to defuse the crisis.
