In a message to his Muslim counterparts on Monday, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani extended condolences over the recent crush tragedy in Mecca during the Hajj rituals and stressed that the responsibility for the disaster and similar incidents which occurred during this year’s pilgrimage lies with Saudi Arabia and the kingdom’s officials should be “accountable” to the Muslim world, ICANA reported.
He also said, “The Majlis [the Iranian Parliament] believes that it is necessary that a fact-finding committee be set up by the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation and the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States to investigate the causes of the [crush] incident.”
