The special parliamentary commission on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (the official title of the July 14 nuclear deal with major powers) will submit its report to the Majlis presiding board by Tuesday, a member of the commission told IRNA on Wednesday.

Under the parliamentary procedure, the special commission is not tasked with holding an up-or-down vote on the deal, but it should present a report to the full Parliament for a decision on a course of action, Abbas Ali Mansouri Arani said.  He expressed confidence that lawmakers will “allow the government to implement the JCPOA, but will require it to obtain parliamentary approval for the implementation of the [International Atomic Energy Agency’s] Additional Protocol.” He proposed that lawmakers introduce separate legislation to plug possible “holes” in the international accord.
