A pro-reform politician announced reformists are holding talks with the Guardian Council on the Feb. 26, 2016 parliamentary poll. In an interview with ISNA on Sunday, Hojatoleslam Mohsen Rohami said reformists have met Ayatollah Mohammad Yazdi and plan to meet other legal experts and religious jurists at the council. “In meetings with members of the Guardian Council, we have stressed that we seek a moderate Majlis.” He also said the council is worried that “extremists” could get into the Majlis, adding, “We will try to assure that we intend to field moderate forces.” The Guardian Council is tasked with vetting candidates and overseeing elections.
