The head of the UN’s nuclear test ban treaty organization called on Iran to follow up on its historic nuclear deal with major powers by ratifying the pact.

Lassina Zerbo said in an interview with the AP on Friday that ratifying the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, known as the CTBT, will assure doubters that before or after the nuclear agreement ends in 15 years, Iran will never conduct any nuclear test explosions.

Tehran says its nuclear program has no military aspects and is totally for peaceful applications.

Zerbo said signing the treaty will give Iran a stronger position to say it has complied with all arms control treaties, so “what else do you need from us to show good faith with regard to our intention to only use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes?”
