The president of the National Assembly of Serbia said Belgrade is keen to maintain and develop traditional relations with members of the Non-Aligned Movement, including the Islamic Republic.
“Relations with Tehran have improved over the first six months of the current year,” said Maja Gojkovic in a meeting with Ambassador to Serbia Majid Fahimpour, IRNA reported on Friday.
The two sides called for enhanced parliamentary cooperation with a view to helping strengthen relations in other fields.
Having received a message from her Iranian counterpart, the senior Serbian lawmaker welcomed Ali Larijani’s invitation for her to visit and assured she will travel to Iran by the yearend.
The envoy briefed Gojkovic on the latest status of the nuclear deal reached in July between Iran and world powers.
Fahimpour also stressed the need for efforts to develop wide-ranging bilateral ties.
