Iran will make every effort to foil the US plot to fragment the region, a member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission told ICANA on Friday.
Vahid Ahmadi said, “In view of the Leader’s recent remarks [in which he warned of US efforts to make inroads into Iraq and Syria and split the Arab countries], the clear aim of the Americans is to break up Iraq and Syria.
“But the territorial integrity of regional countries, including Iraq and Syria, is highly important to us, so we will go to any lengths to prevent the disintegration of the two countries.”
He added, “The Islamic Republic wants calm and security in the country and maintains that its security is intertwined with the security of the region and its neighbors.”
