A city official succumbed to his injuries a few hours after he was shot by gunmen in the city of Iranshahr in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan on Saturday, the Mehr news agency reported. The gunmen wearing municipality uniforms opened fire on Bahram Bashandeh, who was the head of the social affairs department of Iranshahr’s governor office, outside his home early in the day. He sustained injuries and was taken to hospital. However he passed away hours later due to severe injuries. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The attack comes just days after a number of police personnel lost their lives in separate terrorist attacks near the border town of Saravan. Local security officials have said they have arrested several people in relation to those incidents.
