A Russian fleet docked at a navy base on the Caspian Sea in northern Iran on Sunday, ISNA reported.
The visit has been announced to be aimed at helping strengthen “friendly relations” and “maritime cooperation” between Iran and Russia.
It is the third call by Russian warships to Iranian ports since 2007. An Iranian fleet also entered Russian territorial waters and docked at the Astrakhan port.
