Iranian Killed in Turkey Shooting

An Iranian was killed in a shooting attack by “unidentified people” on a bus carrying Iranian passengers in eastern Turkey, Ambassador in Ankara Alireza Bigdeli told ISNA on Saturday. The envoy said the incident took place on Friday on the highway between the town of Caldiran in Van Province and the town of Dogubayazit in Agri Province. Fars News Agency reported that four Iranians were also wounded in the incident. Bigdeli advised compatriots to be careful when traveling in eastern and southern Turkey in view of insecurity in the regions, referring to the intensified activities of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) fighters against government forces in recent weeks.
