Iran’s Ambassador in Beirut Mohammad Fathali said the standoff over the election of a Lebanese president is an “internal matter” that needs to be resolved by leaders of opposing factions in the Arab country.  “The issue of the election of Lebanon’s president is an internal matter and Iran is not interested in getting involved in its resolution,” the envoy said in an interview with the Beirut-based newspaper Al Akhbar, ISNA reported on Saturday. “All sides should address the issue because (its settlement) will benefit the Lebanese people. It is the obligation of the country’s leaders to solve the problem.”  Lebanon’s presidency has been vacant since May 2014 because lawmakers cannot agree on a candidate.
