A senior nuclear negotiator said on Sunday the recent nuclear agreement with major powers was the result of the people’s “resistance” against the West’s pressure campaign, Fars News Agency reported.
“Nuclear achievements and the victory of the negotiating team belong to the people,” Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said, adding, “The victory was the result of ten years of resistance by the people against unfair sanctions of major world powers, which helped ensure the country’s inalienable rights and national interests.”
“The people’s bravery and their support for members of the negotiating team spurred by the wise guidelines of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution made it clear for the negotiating partners that they cannot shout at an Iranian,” he said, referring to heated discussions between negotiators in the final stretch of the talks which culminated in the nuclear deal last month.
