The head of the central council of the Voice of Iranians Party said the purpose of establishing the party was to “keep alive” reformism and “clarify misunderstandings” about the notion. Former ambassador to the UN Mohammad Sadeq Kharazi made the statements in an address to a meeting of party members in Kerman on Friday, IRNA reported.
He commented that reformism needs to be represented by “major and powerful” political parties. Pointing to efforts to eliminate reformists, he said: “Reformism has been and will remain alive throughout history. Some people have attempted to destroy and repel reformism but failed because reformism is rooted in the society and is in the hearts of the people.”
