Obama Woos Dems on Deal

US President Barack Obama was to host House Democrats at a White House reception on Wednesday as he seeks to build support for the Iran nuclear deal, the Hill reported.  “The president invited House Democrats to the White House to talk about his legislative priorities, especially the Iran agreement,” White House spokesman Eric Schultz said Tuesday.
The White House is working hard to get congressional Democrats on board with the deal, and Obama has become personally involved, meeting with and calling lawmakers to ask for their support. Facing unified opposition from Republicans in Congress, Obama is looking to House Democrats to help sink a possible resolution of disapproval against the deal later this year, or sustain a presidential veto if one passes.  Lawmakers are expected to vote on the measure after they return from August recess.
